Why I want to appear foolish

Brave Vs Foolish Words Matrix Courageous or Risky Choice

Faith is the willingness to look foolish. – Mark Batterson

I love that quote. He talks about how when God calls us to do something it often requires us to look foolish in front of others.

Whether or not we are going to look stupid if we are obedient to God should never be our determining factor.

We should be willing to do what God calls us to do despite the fact that it may look as though we will fall on our face.

I believe that our obedience in this area is a major way that God reaches others.

People need to see God do miracles in our lives so that they could believe that maybe, just maybe, He could do the same in theirs.

Great thoughts

You have trusted Him in a few things, and He has not failed you. Trust Him now for everything, and see if He does not do for you exceeding abundantly above all that you could ever have asked or thought, not according to your power or capacity, but according to His own mighty power, that will work in you all the good pleasure of His most blessed will.

You find no difficulty in trusting the Lord with the management of the universe and all the outward creation, and can your case be any more complex or difficult than these, that you need to be anxious or troubled about His management of it?  ~ Hannah Whitall Smith

Stop caring about this ….. If you want to be a powerhouse for God!

“But there is another urgency before me now. I feel compelled to go to Jerusalem. I’m completely in the dark about what will happen when I get there. I do know that it won’t be any picnic, for the Holy Spirit has let me know repeatedly and clearly that there are hard times and imprisonment ahead. But that matters little. What matters most to me is to finish what God started: the job the Master Jesus gave me of letting everyone I meet know all about this incredibly extravagant generosity of God  (Ac 20:22–24).

While reading the Bible this morning I was struck by Paul’s simple faith and three things stood out for me.

  • Paul felt compelled to go.
  • Paul was willing to go though he knew it would be hard.
  • He put Gods will above his comfort.

Paul was such a great example of how every one of us Christians should be. He wanted God’s will for his life to be done. That was it. He did not want a fancy home, latest piece of clothing, or whatever else was all the rage back then.

He just simply wanted Gods will to be done.

What an encouragement to me as I am trusting God to lead me to England. I am really in the dark about everything but I know that it will be hard to separate from my family and friends.

I just found out that I am going to be a grandmother for the first time. Leaving is not something that makes me comfortable, and yet I feel compelled, and so daily I ask God for strength to put His will above my comfort.

I do not know about you but I love to be comfortable. But I realize that is not advancing the kingdom of God.

We need to stop being comfortable and be about our fathers business!!!!

Come on Christians, let us arise and follow His lead.

We will never grow strong and tall unless we allow God to grow our roots deep.

Our roots grow with every act of obedience to God’s will for our lives.

What thing is God compelling you to do?

I am praying for you that you will just trust His heading to do it, comfort be damned!!!

This miracle happened today…

This Christmas I was blessed to get a present. It was a beautiful coat.

Read more about this Christmas gift here

A few weeks later I went out to a coffee house and left it on a chair.

I am very forgetful so I was not absolutely sure where I left it.

I went back and asked about the coat. The girl got a smirk on her face. Then she went in the back, laughed and came out and in a strange voice told me they had nothing like that.

It seemed clear she was lying but I cannot stand confrontation so I left.

I was heartsick over the loss of the jacket. Not only did I love the jacket but I did not want to disappoint the young men who gave it to me.

A week passed. Then one night after spending time with God He told me to go back.

I didn’t want to, but listened to Him, even though I was nervous (I am bad with faces and I did not want to run into the same girl).

On the way there I asked God to let a guy be up front. There was.

I asked Him, he went to the back and came out with the jacket!!

I was amazed. But I shouldn’t of been. God is faithful!! He never tells us to do anything without a reason!!

He can be trusted!!!!!

Trust and have this…

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord… ~ Isaiah 26:3
