If you are wanting to give up…wait!! “Here is why you have not found success yet!”

When I wake up, knowing that I have had a dream, the first thing I do is try and remember as many details about it as possible. The next thing I do is ask God if He might be speaking to me through the dream.

Last night I had a dream that I was on some sort of educational trip with tons of college aged students. I was late arriving and late getting to my dorm. They were all unpacked and enjoying themselves while I was trying to find my room. And I remember feeling like they all were laughing at my ineptness.

I was having a hard time and wanted to go home when another student said that he would show me where to go.

However, before we reached the room there was a long hallway with a door would not open. As it turned out, only I, with all my life experience, could fix it. Just then a college professor passed by and told me “you are an amazing student.”

That was the dream.

The real-life fact is…

I just turned fifty about six months ago. Fifty! And I am about to begin the last two classes I need to complete my master’s degree. I have been thinking a lot about my future lately, wondering if I missed the boat.

When I asked God what they dream meant (if anything), He brought to my mind that out of all of the students, I was the only one that was there at that time, with the exact skills and life experiences, to fix that door that all the other students would use to walk through. The younger student with me did not.

God gave me the gift of writing, I believe, at birth. I have always been drawn to observe and write. It is part of me. I have, however, not done a lot with my gift, but I feel as if I am standing ON THE THRESHOLD of all that God has called me to do.

Yes, choices have consequences that often keep us from being where we want to be, but I believe that God spoke to my heart this morning, concerning the dream saying “Here is why you have not found success yet…because it was not yet your time. You needed to go through all that you have gone through to gain the knowledge that would be used fixing that door.”

I believe that God is saying to you,” Hold on! Do not quit!! Here is why you have not found the success you desire as an author, teacher, student, businessman or, singer,  etc.. because it is not yet your time.”

You are in the process of getting the life experience that you need, to be positioned where God wants you to be.

So do not look around you and make a judgment against yourself based on others. Your journey is unique.

Keep your focus on God.

I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken. – Psalm 16:8 (NIV)

Keep trusting God, keeping going, And Remember You are Amazing!

Why Charley Fell

chab

So last night I had the strangest dream. In the dream there was this little old lady that was stealing from this company. Even though I wasn’t officially in charge I knew that I had to catch her and give her to the police. But every time I tried she slipped out the back door.

Now there was another person, a young male, who stole and I was chasing him as well. In the end they both were caught. I caught the young man. And my partner caught (in an area far from where I was) the elderly woman.

When I finally saw the woman up close I was shocked because she was not your typical older woman. No, she was a well know Christian speaker whom I admire greatly.

When I woke up and immediately asked God what that was about.

He came me an image of Charley Brown charging at and kicking the ball.  Charley Brown but it had been awhile since seeing it so I went to YouTube and saw the cause of the fall. Lucy.

Charley wants more than anything else to kick the ball. Lucy promises him that she will not let him down. That she will hold that ball for him. This time it is a sure thing. So Charley who should know better, trusts her. He runs for his dream and lands flat on his back as he does every time.

I believe that God was telling me that as anyone who puts anything before God is destined to fall.

The enemy Satan is like Lucy. He gets us to trust him but using the thing that we want most and holding it out in front of us (as in the case of Charley Brown) or who tempts us with what we desire (as in the case of the Christian speaker in my dream).

Both people have one thing in common, one thing that brought their downfall. They did not submit themselves wholly and completely to God.

As Christians we are to…

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.- Philippians 4:6-7

And we are also to …

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.-Ephesians 6:11

Stay close to God, put on your amour, surrender every dream, goal, and plan of your life to God.

Do not go kick that ball unless you sought God in prayer about it.

If you lose your peace, stop and go over what you have been doing or thinking that might of cause you to do so and then go to Him in prayer and ask for His guidance. He will be faithful to give it.

We need to submit fully surrender ever area of our lives to God so that we will stop looking like fools in front of the world and start being a powerful force that will change it.

For those who are weary

this

Did God give you are dream?

A dream that you have held on to, though the storms of life threatened to rip it from your hands?

Are you weary? Worn? Ready to let go from pure exhaustion?

Does letting go or turning back seem like your only option.

Ask yourself?

Would God ask me to stand in faith for something that is impossible?

Is there anything God cannot do?

Any door He cannot open?

Any heart He cannot change?

Any financial barrier He cannot surpass?

Don’t quit!!!!

Remember that it is only dark because dawn is coming.

Remember that you are not alone.

Draw close to God, closer, closer still.

Can you hear that? Listen for it.

God is saying “Be still child. Know that I am God. Know that I Am. I see where you are and will get you where you need to be, just hold on to me, just hold on.”

Why we need to put down our paddles and pick up our pom-poms

cheer

I am a person who really does not like conflict. In fact I just ordered a pair of plain black glasses and was given a pair with black on the front and animal print (ick) on the sides.

Did I  give them back, insisting they be fixed? No I just decided to live with them. And I have.

But there is one thing that I cannot live with anymore. Something that it eating away at me.

It is the way we as Christians encourage (or don’t encourage) each other.

We are supposed to be a people of faith who simply believe. We are supposed to have a childlike faith.

And yet when someone comes to us excitedly telling us what God just promised them, the usual reaction that we have is to take out our huge paddles, worn with use, and smack that idea down so hard  as to shatter it in a million pieces.

We tell them all the reasons why it is not God, instead of believing that God does want to do miraculous things in and through His people.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say that we are to discourage other Christians from believing God’s promises.  In fact it says just the opposite;

Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, … respect those who labor among you… esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone.”                                                  (1 Thessalonians 5:11–15, ESV)

Look at that!! Paul is saying that to do nothing is not a good thing, so when did we as Christians have come to believe that passivity is the best option?

No, Gods words tells us to not tear down but “build each other up.”

If we are told an idea by a Christian that we find hard to believe, we need to just cheer them on, and then pray for them.

If they are believing sincerely that God is telling them something foolish, and we believe that God is a good God, then why on earth would we think that we have to stop them from some horrible ending. If God is a good God who loves us, wouldn’t He make sure that even if we mishear, He will get us to where we need to be.

The world bashes us enough, and that is ok because they do not believe in a powerful God who loves them, but we should not be bashing each other.

Families are supposed to be our soft spot to land, so let’s be determined to put down our paddles and pick up our pom-poms and make it our business to cheer each other on and believe that God has the best in store for them.

We are called “believers” after all!!

A great story about the “VeggieTale” Guy and God’s Faithfulness

I am currently reading the booMe, Myself, and Bob: A True Story About God, Dreams, and Talking Vegetables It is a bio of the talented author and creator of VeggieTales, Phil Vischer.

In the book he shares a great example of God’s faithfulness.

He had on his heart to make a computer animated program for children, and after much struggle did create VeggieTales but could not get the backing to allow him to create the program and still provide for his wife and baby girl.

He hit wall after wall and finally was down to his last dollar.  He began to doubt that it was really his call after all and in desperation called out “God tell me this isn’t just me-tell me you’re in this too.”

Right after he started to go through a stack of mail…all bills except an anonymous hand addressed envelope. Inside was  a $400.oo cashiers check with a note that said “God laid it on my heart that you might need this.”

In the book Phil says,

“That wasn’t the end of our ‘hard times’…but since that day I have never once doubted that God has called me to use my gifts for him, and that he will supply whatever resources I need in his perfect timing.

And I will never give up.” (page 75).

Wow how faithful is the awesome God we serve! He knows when we are weak, when we are weary.

If we just pursue what we are called to do, he is faithful to supply all our needs.

Keep pushing…You will get there!!
